Whirlpool Fort Smith
Whirlpool Corporation is dedicated to the clean up of Trichloroethylene (TCE) at the company’s former manufacturing site in Fort Smith, Arkansas. We are on track with our commitments to clean up the site and to keep affected property owners informed of any new developments.
In coordination with the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ), we continue to perform monitoring and remediation activities to ensure that the remediation plan is effective and continues to responsibly address groundwater quality. The ADEQ has determined that there are no complete exposure pathways and thus no risk to area residents.
Recent News
Over the last two years, Whirlpool has completed additional remediation activities at the former manufacturing site and some adjacent properties. Beginning in Spring 2026, Whirlpool will be completing additional remediation activities at select properties in the neighborhood north of the former manufacturing site. As with our previous activities, work is expected to take only a few weeks to complete.
